Renton beats Kennedy, moves closer to perfect league season; Liberty wins in KingCo tourney | Girls basketball

The Renton girls basketball team came from behind to beat Kennedy Catholic 48-37 Monday night. The Indians (14-4 overall, 13-0 Seamount) have already locked up their first Seamount title since 1987, and are now one game away from a perfect league record this season. Renton takes on Highline Tuesday evening in the regular-season finale.

Against Kennedy, Renton fell behind by two points at the half. But the Indians’ defense took over in the third, holding the Lancers to one point in the quarter. Renton took a nine point lead going into the fourth.

Taylor Farris and Priscilla Tuiasosopo each scored 15 points to lead Renton.

Liberty takes out Mercer Island in KingCo 3A tournament

The Liberty girls basketball team beat Mercer Island 60-40 in the first round of the KingCo 3A tournament Monday.

The Patriots (15-6, 10-4 KingCo 3A/2A) led 42-18 at the half. Aspen Winegar led the team with 16 points. Sierra Carlson added 13.
