Raymond Ha wins title, Patriots take fourth; Hazen 21st | 3A state swim & dive

Liberty junior Raymond Ha won a state title, the Patriots placed fourth, and Hazen finished 21st at the 3A state swim and dive meet last weekend. Ha won his title in the 100 breast, earning All-American consideration with his time of 57.46 seconds.

As a team Liberty scored 168 points to take fourth, while the Highlanders scored 29 points in 21st.

Liberty’s Logan Briggs finished second in the 200 IM, with his time of 1:52.66 earning him All-American consideration. Briggs also finished second in the 500 free. He came in 0.19 second behind Bainbridge’s Andrew McCarthy. Briggs’ time of 4:35.46 earned him All-American consideration.

Liberty took third in the 200-medley relay (Luke Duschl, Ha, Kevin Hays and Briggs). The relay finished with a time of 1:36.81, just 0.15 seconds off of All-American consideration.

Hazen made the finals in the same event and placed 16th with a team of Nolan Hoover, Chris Foth, Kyle Nelson and Malcolm Mitchell.

Liberty’s Nick Klatt placed sixth in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.56. Mitchell took 17th in the event.

Duschl placed ninth in the 200 IM. Liberty’s Connor Biehl took 18th in the event, and Hazen’s Connor Broughton placed 21st.

In the one-meter dive competition, Liberty’s Jesse Herrild placed 18th, while Hazen’s Shane Thompson took 22nd.

Mitchell finished 24th in the 100 free. Klatt took seventh in the 500 free. Hazen’s Chase Onstot finished 12th in the same event. Broughton took 19th.

Hazen placed 16th in the 200-free relay (Onstot, Nelson, Andrew Le and P.J. Warmenhoven). Liberty took 18th in the event (Hays, Biehl, Jarrett Brown and Klatt).

Duschl placed fifth in the 100 back. Hoover took 16th. Hays placed 11th in the 100 breast.

Liberty took fifth in the 400-free relay (Duschl, Klatt, Hays and Briggs). Hazen finished 11th (Onstot, Warmenhoven, Hoover and Mitchell).
