With three sophomores, five freshmen and two coaches coaching high school soccer for the first time, the sky’s the limit for the 2008 Lindbergh soccer team.

Liberty started the week of play by losing to Bellevue 12-3 on April 8. The Patriots (7-3, 6-2) took an early lead in the top of the first inning, but gave it up in the bottom of the inning. Bellevue (4-7, 3-5) then went up 9-1 after four innings.
Pesky, irksome, or downright frustrataing. You can call the Liberty slapping Patriots whatever you want because once they hit the field, they won’t slow down enough to hear you. The Liberty softball team is using slapping, speed and small-ball to have a big season in 2008.

Tyee scored a late goal to beat Renton 1-0 on April 4. Frank Martinez scored the goal and was assisted by Mostafa Hedayat. Jose Rivera recorded the shutout for the Totems (1-5, 1-5).
The Renton High track teams have grown accustomed to winning. The boys team has won seven consecutive league titles, the girls team has been nearly as dominant recently, and both are off to a 3-0 start in 2008.

Renton High’s Brandon Schaefer has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Evergreen State College.
The building is too big, too fancy and too expensive. The reasons why Skatebarn West might be forced to close its doors are easy to find. The solutions are much more difficult to come by.

With efforts like Hazen’s Nathan Bunch’s March 24 start against Lindbergh, the Highlanders will a be a tough match for any team in 2008.
There was nothing really different about the basketball games played at Renton High School over the weekend, other than the fact the players were in wheelchairs.
