Josh Gordon, Hiron Redman, Danielle Richards win district titles | 3A track & field

The Liberty boys and girls track teams each placed third at the 3A Sea-King district meet last week. The boys scored 72 points, behind O'Dea in second and Bellevue in first. The girls finished with 59 points, behind Holy Names and Juanita in first.

Josh Gordon again led the Patriots with two district titles. He won the triple and long jump. He was part of Liberty’s second-place 4 X 400 relay along with Joseph Bergmann, Hamilton Noel and Hiron Redman. Gordon also took third in the high jump.

Redman won a district title in the 800. Alex Olobia took third in the 100. Bergmann finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and fifth in the high jump. Trevor Merritt placed third in the javelin. Noel finished fourth in the pole vault. Ashby Brown placed seventh in the 400.

Gordon, Olobia, Redman, Bergmann, Noel and Merritt all made state.

For the girls, Danielle Richards won a district title in the pole vault.

Emily Pestl-Dimmitt took second in the 100 hurdles and fourth in the javelin. Megan Chucka finished fourth in the 3,200 and fifth in the 1,600. Elizabeth Ryker took 10th in the 200. Aimee Christensen finished seventh in the 400. Amy Broska took ninth in the 1,600 and eighth in the 3,200. Kelley Johnson placed 10th in the 300 hurdles.

Ryker, Richards, plus Danielle and Cherelle Demps finished fourth in the 4 X 100. Cherelle Demps, Isabelle Sturm, Delane Agnew and Ryker took 8th in the 4 X 200 relay. Michaela Chucka, Johnson, Christensen and Ryker placed fourth in the 4 X 400.

Alexis McGinnis took fifth in the shot put. Anna Frodsham placed fifth in the javelin. Agnew took ninth in the high jump.

Larson, Chucka, Pestl-Dimmitt, Richards, McGinnis and Frodsham will compete at state.

Hazen

The Hazen boys track and field team tied Foss for 14th at the West Central District 3A meet, while the Hazen girls took 19th.

Devin Nguyen, Daniel Huie, David Phan and Travis Lilly combined to take second in the 4 X 400 relay. Huie took fifth in the 800, Michael Beasley placed sixth in the 800. Daniel Karpman finished ninth the 1,600 and ninth in the 3,200.

Isaac Waititu, Mason Jacobs, Cody Taylor and Yount took seventh in the 4 X 100 relay. Spencer Shear finished sixth in the pole vault and 11th in the high jump. Bahari Watkins placed ninth in the long jump and Phan took 10th.

Beasley, Huie and Shear made state.

For the girls, Sarah Schoville placed fifth in the 100 hurdles and seventh in the 300 hurdles. Airashay Rogers took fifth in the shot put and 12th in the long jump.

Cameron devereux finished 13th in the javelin and Emma Tuschhoff took 14th in the triple jump. Chelsea Deglado, Schoville, Taylor Jensen and Rogers placed sixth in the 4 X 100 relay.

Schoville and Rogers made state individually.
