Highlanders top Kennedy to win league meet; Lindbergh third, Renton fourth | Swim & dive

The Hazen girls swim team topped Kennedy Catholic to win the Seamount League swim meet Saturday.

The Highlanders scored 371.5 points to lead the way at the meet. Kennedy was second with 328. Lindbergh finished third with 245 and Renton took fourth with 115.

Event-by-event rundown:

200 medley relay

Hazen finished second to Kennedy by 0.54 seconds. The Highlanders team was sophomore Amy LeBar, freshman Kayla DiMicco, senior Kaela Nurmi and senior Lauren Kaufman.

Lindbergh took third with a team of sophomore Jacqui Flaherty, junior Lauren Miller, senior Savannah Lemke and senior Karlie Pfluger.

200 free

LeBar finished second, followed by Hazen sophomore Kara Bradford in third, Lindbergh freshman Erica Garl in fourth and Hazen sophomore Kristal Kozai in fifth.

200 individual medley

Nurmi took second. Lemke, Flaherty and Hazen sophomore Taylor Gale followed.

50 free

Kaufman won the race. Renton sophomore Tala Hild took fourth and Lindbergh sophomore Kaitlin Zinsli took fifth.

One-meter dive

Hazen junior Sarah McCormick finished third, while DiMicco took fourth.

100 butterfly

Hild finished second, Lemke took third and Gale finished fifth.

100 free

Kaufman won this event too. LeBary took third and Renton junior Lynhda Vuong finished fifth.

500 free

Hazen sophomore Kara Bradford won. Kozai took third, Lindbergh senior Krista Waffle took fourth and Hazen sophomore Mikayla Muratore earned fifth.

200 free relay

Lindbergh’s team of Zinzli, Miller, Lemke and Pfluger won. Hazen’s group of Gale, Cori Hall, Casey Chandler and Leah Maier finished third. Renton (Quirra Gipson, Sum Yee Lee, Alina Fassbind and Sabrina Bigelow) took fifth.

100 backstroke

Hazen’s Nurmi won, while Hazen junior Megan Downs took fourth and Garl finished fifth.

100 breaststroke

Renton sophomore Eloisa Bautista won the event. DiMicco took fourth.

400 free relay

Hazen (LeBar, DiMicco, Nurmi and Kaufman) won this event while Renton (Tonie Canlas, Vuong, Hild and Bautista) came in third. Lindbergh’s group of Zinzli, Garl, Bailey Faull and Brenna Healy took fourth.

Highline took fifth, Evergreen sixth and Tyee seventh at the meet.
