Hazen takes fourth at West Seattle; Liberty fifth at Jack Reynolds tournament | Wrestling

The Hazen wrestling team took fourth at the West Seattle Invitational Jan. 16.

The Highlanders didn’t have wrestlers at 160, 171, 215 and 285 pounds, but was still just 10 points out of third place.

Roxanne Paz won three matches in a row, including a pin fall in the championship match, to take the girls 130-140 division.

Jordan Hjelmaa (189 pounds), Daniel Karpman (130) and Allen Bunma (135) all took second place in their classes.

Austin Clark (125) and Cody Taylor (152) took third, while Sean Shimada (112) earned fourth.

The Liberty wrestling team placed fifth at the Jack Reynolds Scholarship Fund Tournament of Excellence Jan. 16 at Mercer Island High School.

The Patriots got titles from Brandon Studer (171 pounds), Wright Noel (140) and Hamilton Noel (145). Jay Chakravarty finished second at 160 pounds.
