Hazen soccer tops Foster 5-0

Midfielder Ethan Kem had three assists and Reyes Garcia had two goals in the win.

After a bumpy start to the season, the Hazen soccer team appears to be getting its legs under it, beating Foster 5-0 on Friday for the Highlanders’ second win in a row.

Senior captain Reyes Garcia opened the scoring at four minutes into the first half, putting a 25-yard free kick into the net for a 1-0 lead.

Then junior midfielder Ethan Kem took over, picking up three assists in a row to Robbie Schroeder, a second goal for Garcia with 13 minutes left in the half and then picking up where he left off with a pass that Zach Quesnal put into the net just 16 minutes in the second half.

With eight minutes left, Drew Wilson’s run into the box drew a penalty kick, which he put in for the 5-0 lead.

Keeper Luis Rodriguez picked up the shutout for the Highlanders.

Hazen hosts Highline Tuesday at Renton Memorial Stadium.
