Hazen soccer gets first win with route over Evergreen

The Hazen Highlanders soccer team picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday, a 5-0 route of Evergreen.

Senior forward Reyes Garcia got the scoring started 23 minutes into the first half. Two minutes later, Sophomore Drew Wilson’s first touch goal off an assist from Ethan Kem set the Highlanders up at 2-0.

With eight minutes left in the half Kem got a goal of his own off an assist from Zach Quesnel’s. Seniors Gorav Singh and Hector Cervantes then teamed up as Singh back-heeled Cervantes’ header into the net for a goal six minutes before the half.

Singh got his second of the night on a Leon Bamba cross with 2 minutes left.

Keeper Luis Rodriguez got the shut out.

Hazen is now 1-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the Seamount League. They play at Foster Friday and host Highline Tuesday at Renton Memorial Stadium.
