The Lady Highlanders basketball team from Hazen is hoping to keep their season alive tonight when they match-up with Enumclaw in a loser-out game.
Hazen won their opening round game against Kelso 35-32, but then fell to Wilson 73-23 on Saturday, forcing tonight’s must-win game.
Brenna Hairston and Nia Johnson led the Highlanders in their win over Kelso with 8 points each, in what turned out to be aback-and-forth game. Hazen opened with a 13-9 first period, but Kelso responded and the teams headed to the half with Kelso up 17-16. The third period was all Hazen as the Highlanders won it 10-2, but Kelso rallied in the fourth, forcing Hazen to hang on for the 30point win.
Unfortunately for the Highlanders, things did not go as well on Saturday as the Wilson Rams tore through Hazen 73-23. No statistics were available for the game.
Hazen plays Enumclaw at 7:45 p.m. tonight at Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma with the loser’s season coming to an end.
