Hazen beats Renton to stay perfect | GIRLS TENNIS

Hazen is scheduled to play at Highline today, Tuesday, while Renton takes on Evergreen at home.

With their win 6-1 Monday over Renton, the Hazen girls tennis team record moves to a perfect 9-0.

Renton’s third doubles team was the only victor for the Indians, who fell to 4-3 overall and in the Seamount League.

Hazen’s victory was led by its singles players, who won every match. First singles player Haley Strandberg defeated Kimberly Hoang 6-2,6-3 while Lesley Wong beat Jhomarie Sadang 6-4, 6-4 in second singles.

In their third singles match, Hazen’s Elise Wong cruised to 6-0, 6-0 win. The fourth singles match was much closer, however, with Hazen’s Ashley Wang winning the first set, but losing the second to Renton’s Mirjam Amstutz in a tiebreak before winning the third for a final line of 6-3, 6-7 (2-7), 10-6.

In doubles play, the Hzaen team of Kristal Kozai and NgocThuy Nguyen defeated Vianca Lazaro and Alexis Miles 6-2, 6-2, while Tina Ching and Kitty Ling beat Jenny Almondovar and Christina Santos 6-2, 6-3.

Renton’s only victory came from the third doubles team of Jennifer Vuong and Nafely Heng, who defeated Kristy Huynh and Catherine Lin 6-7 (6-8), 7-6 (7-1), 10-8.
