Baseball: Hazen wins twice over weekend; Lindbergh and Renton fall

Hazen 14, Foster 1 Saturday

Hazen beat Foster easily Saturday, 14-1.

The Highlanders (11-6 overall, 11-5 league) are in fourth place in the Seamount after winning two games during the weekend.

Anthony Pina went 2-3 with two runs, two RBIs, a double and a homerun at the plate. Justin Jacobs, Kyle Nation and Kevin Schwab each added two RBIs.

Chase Gordon started and earned the win. David Green, Jeff Beckman and Schwab all pitched an inning in relief.

Kennedy 23, Renton 2

Renton couldn’t slow down Kennedy’s offense Friday, as the Lancers won 23-2.

The Indians (1-14, 1-14) allowed in every inning but the fourth and trailed 12-2 heading into the fifth inning. Kennedy then piled on 11 more runs.

Michael Weaver plated Renton’s only two runs in the second inning.

Hazen 9, Lindbergh 8 Friday

Hazen came out on top of Lindbergh 9-8 after a hectic seventh inning Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (10-6, 10-6) took an early 3-1 lead but entered the seventh inning down 7-4. Lindbergh then scored four runs to take the lead.

Hazen responded with two runs in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.

The two teams are battling for fourth and fifth place in the Seamount, Hazen currently holds a one-game lead.

Brenden Campbell went 3-3 with two runs and two steals. Schwab went 3-5 with a run and an RBI. Nation went 3-4 with two runs, two steals and an RBI. Chadd Garton went 2-5 with a run and two RBIs.

Blake Gray went 3-4 with two runs and two RBIs. Jordan Perry went 1-4 with two RBIs. Tommy Kawamura went 1-4 with three runs and a steal.

Kyle Swannack started for Lindbergh, Jimmy Schmidt started for Hazen. Each allowed seven runs with four strikeouts and three walks.

Bo Worgan earned the win for the Highlanders in relief.
