Roby William Crutchfield
Roby William Crutchfield, age 86, a long time Renton resident, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, October 29, 2009. He was born July 2, 1923, in Saco, Montana, son of Roby Andrew and Helen Vera Crutchfield. He moved to Renton with his family in 1941. He graduated from Renton High School and went to work for the Boeing Company. Roby enlisted in the Army to serve his country during WWII in the Philippines and in Japan. After the war, he returned to work as a machinist at the Boeing Company. He met Helen whom he married in 1948 and they had two daughters, Marcia and Vickie. In 1959, Roby went to work as a heavy duty mechanic for Stoneway Sand and Gravel Company where he worked until he retired. He was devoted to his family. Roby enjoyed cars, camping, golfing, bowling, fishing, and playing cards with friends and family. Roby is preceded in death by: his wife of 56 years, Helen, his daughter, Vickie Hall, his brother, Richard Crutchfield, and sister, Fauneille Crutchfield. He is survived by: his daughter, Marcia Howard, and her husband, John, his grandchildren: Michael Wilson, Stephanie Wilson, Michelle Simpson and her husband, Ryan, great grandchildren, Shayla and Kendra Simpson, and Dominic and Malaki Wilson. He is also survived by his brother, Jack Crutchfield and his wife, Rita, and sister-in-law, Ramona Crutchfield. A viewing will begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at Washington Memorial Park. Graveside services will follow.
