Chinese Lunar New Year at Renton Library: It’s the Year of the Rabbit! From 2-3 p.m., learn about the largest festival in China through stories, culture, language and paper crafts with local artist Aria Zhang. This event is free but registration must be done ahead of time at kcls.com.

Monday, Jan. 16

Free State Parks Day at Squak Mountain State Park Natural Area: Get out and enjoy Washington State Parks on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! While any State Parks in King County and beyond are viable, why not check out the Squak Mountain State Park Natural Area just outside of Renton and Issaquah. The park includes 13 miles of hiking trails and 6 miles of horse trails.

Thursday, Jan. 19 – Saturday, Jan. 21

Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka at Carco Theatre: Follow Charlie to the Chocolate Factory this winter at the Carco Theatre near the Renton Community Center. For more information, visit broadwayworld.com.

Saturday, Jan. 28

Downtown Renton Chocolate Crawl with check-in at the Renton Chamber of Commerce: From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., become a chocolate connoisseur while walking (and maybe even shopping) through Renton’s Downtown. There will be contests, giveaways and winners drawn every hour.

Admission fees are $40 for adults, $20 for a child with a family pack option (2 adults and 2 children) of $100. Adult Chamber members get a discount price of $30.

Wednesday, Feb. 1

Free Museum Day at the Renton History Museum: Free admission to the museum from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., enjoy the wonders of the past!

Friday, Feb. 17

The Snow Ball: A Winter Family Dance at Renton Community Center: From 6- 8 p.m., families are invited to come dance the night away! Registration is required with a fee of $15 for Renton residents and a fee of $18 for non-Renton residents.

Register today at rentonwa.gov/register with code #14189. Along with great music, the Snow Ball will have keepsakes, refreshments and a photo booth.
