Summer Concerts: Stacey Jones Band at Gene Coulon Memorial Beach Park:

Renton Municipal Arts Commission and Parks and Recreation present blues performers Stacey Jones Band at the Kidd Valley Stage. The first of the city’s summer concert series, this free show will run from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Saturday, July 8

Sustainable Renton presents Hunger Heroes 5k at St. Matthews Lutheran Church:

This superhero-themed 5K “run, walk or roll” will begin at 10 a.m. and will include an ADA-accessible run path. Attendees are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superheroes and to donate non-perishable food items, which will go towards Sustainable Renton’s Free Grocery Store. Register at myevent.com/hungerheroes5k and the event will be held at 1700 Edmonds Avenue Northeast, Renton.

R-Town Podcast presents The Gong Show at Renton Civic Center:

A fun, local take on the television classic “The Gong Show”, this event will include comedian judges, prizes, live music by the Hayfields, dance, magic and even a bed of nails, doors will open at 7 p.m. and the show will begin at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Return to Renton Car Show at Piazza Park:

This free event is back for its 32nd year, complete with entertainment, food trucks, vendors, music, kids activities and, of course, cool cars with fun trophy categories. Gates open at 8 a.m. for registered vehicles and spectators can pour in at 10 a.m., where voting will begin for Favorite Vehicle Voting, which will last three hours. Family Fun Entertainment Series: Together at Last! at Sunset Neighborhood Park:

Starting at 11 a.m., this family-friendly performance is a “fun musical journey through spectacular ecosystems.” This is a free event in partnership with the King County Library System and Renton Parks and Recreation.

Renton Neighborhood BBQ: 1950s at Renton High School:

One of the city’s four free neighborhood events, this free, 1950s-themed BBQ will run from 5 to 8 p.m in front of Renton High. Free hotdogs (with vegetarian options), live music, lawn games and city department information booths will be available to all who attend.

Thursday, July 20

Café Vets: Monthly gathering of veterans and guests for coffee and refreshments hosted by Renton American Legion Post 19 and Auxiliary Unit 19 on the third Thursday of every month (except December) from 10 a.m. to noon. Come for coffee and camaraderie and goodies. Legion membership is not a requirement, though most veterans are eligible for membership. Post Service Officer will be on hand, in case someone needs assistance with a VA claim. No agenda, just veterans getting together with other veterans and their friends. Post Hall is in the Renton Highlands, under the water tower (3224 NE 12th St.).

Fridays, July 30 to Aug. 25

SOS/Food Lifeline Free Lunch Pop-Up at Downtown Renton:

This weekly event will take be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where unsheltered and Renton residents with food insecurities will be given a free lunch. A partnership between SOS Emergency Feeding Program and Food Lifeline, this event will take place at 126 South Logan Avenue North.

Saturdays, July 1 to July 29

Renton Parkrun at Cedar River Trail:

This weekly 5K community event takes place every Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Cedar River Trail trailhead by the I-405 overpass. This free event does require registration but is meant to be a fun event where walkers, joggers, runners, volunteers and spectators can come together. Wednesdays, July 5 & 19

Free Lunch Pop-Up at Liberty Park:

Emergency Feeding Program’s bi-weekly free lunch event will provide Amazon Fresh ready-to-eat food and drinks, personal hygiene kits and socks for the unsheltered and residents with food insecurities. The pop-up will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. is located in the parking lot of Liberty Park at 1101 Bronson Way North.

Tuesdays, July 11 to Sep. 26

Renton Farmers Market at Piazza Park:

The city farmers market will take July 4 off but will be back in Piazza Park on July 11 and every Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. until Sept. 26. Along with vendors, the Washington State University’s Master Gardeners will be there each week to answer garden-related questions.
