Talbot Road South to be closed Saturday through Sunday morning

All lanes of Talbot Road South will be closed Saturday to start paving the widened road for a new off ramp.

The closure begins Saturday, Aug. 28 at 9 a.m. and ends Sunday at 8 a.m.

The state Department of Transportation decided to fully close the road as opposed to partial lane closures, because otherwise the project would take days, said spokesperson Lisa Hodgson, “The thought was we’d get in there and get out.”

Starting at Renton Village Place South and ending at South 15th Street, the short stretch of road passes under I-405.

Because so much housing is nearby, the state scheduled the closing times to limit how much work is done at night, she said.

This is the first of two Talbot closures. A similar one is also scheduled for Sept. 25-26.

The closures are a part of two $83.6 million projects, which will widen I-405 and add a freeway onramp from Talbot.

Recently a new bridge was completed for Benson Road South.

The detour for the Talbot closures takes drivers from the South 15th to South Puget Drive, then up Benson.
