Students of the month for February

The Rotary Club of Renton has recognized three high school students for February in its Youth of the Month program.

• Logan Herman is a senior at Hazen High School.

Herman has a 3.9 GPA. She was FCCLA vice president and chair and an ASB senator. She has also been a member of National Honor Society, class committees, Highlander Club, DECA and Link Crew. She has played soccer, fastpitch softball, gymnastics and cheer.

Herman has received awards for National Honor Society, Honor Roll, Most Improved for soccer, Most Inspirational for softball, Academic Achiever, Scholar Athlete, Homecoming Countess and letters in gymnastics and cheer.

She works part time as a host at Amante Pizza & Pasta and volunteers with United Way, Locks of Love, National Honor Society, FCCLA and Junior Achievement.

Herman plans to attend a four-year university and earn a Ph.D. She plans to pursue a career in the medical field.

• Anthony Le is a senior at Lindbergh High School.

He has a 3.7 GPA. He is Medical Explorers secretary and National Honor Society vice president. He is also a member of Key Club, International Club and varsity soccer.

Le has received awards for Student of the Month, Seamount League Academic Achievement and Lindbergh High Top Ten Junior.

Le works part time as an associate at Joe’s Sporting Goods. He volunteers as an interpreter for the elderly and an assistant for International Housing Alliance.

He plans to attend the University of Washington to pursue a career as a bio-engineer.

• Jerry Du is a senior at Renton High School.

Du has a 3.8 GPA. He is co-captain of the baseball team. He is also a member of Key Club and Green Team.

Du has received awards for Outstanding Junior, Outstanding Indian and Most Valuable Player for baseball.

He works part time as a cashier at Hollywood Video. He volunteers with Key Club and Green Team.

He plans to attend either University of Washington or University of Pennsylvania and major in business. His goal is to start and own a business.

A selection committee of Rotary members reviews applications and interviews students. The Rotary Youth of the Month award is given to students who possess leadership abilities, maintain a good grade point average and participate in school activities and volunteer work in their community.

The students and their parents are honored guests at a Rotary luncheon.
