A fight between two men March 12 started after one got off a bus and grabbed the buttocks of the other man’s girlfriend in front of the Fred Meyer on Renton Center Way.

The boyfriend suffered a knife wound to his hand when the other man lunged at him with a knife, he told officers.

But security cameras at Fred Meyer tell a different story.

The video shows the 22-year-old Seattle man talk with another man, then part ways. The victim steps out of camera view, then in again, but his left arm is dangling to his side.

The girlfriend comes into view, gripping something metallic in a way that’s common in a stabbing.

In an interview at Valley Medical Center, the victim admitted the girlfriend stabbed him, but he wasn’t pressing charges. As he walked down the hallway, he mouthed the word “leave” to someone.

That someone was the girlfriend, who said they argued and she accidentally stabbed him with scissors. She dropped the scissors in a trash can outside Fred Meyer, but it wasn’t found.

She was booked into King County Jail for investigation of second-degree assault, domestic violence.

A HOT TICKET TO A SHOW?: A small fire in a piece of fabric was quickly extinguished March 15 on the outside of Carco Theater by theater employees.

The small fire was discovered by employees who smelled smoke during an event. There was no damage to the theater next to the Renton Community Center.

A plastic lighter was found on the sidewalk but it wasn’t known whether it was used to start the fire.

The case was turned over to arson investigators.

When pressed, he told officers he gave a false name because of a warrant. Under his correct name were two warrants, including one for $1,000 for unlawful transit conduct.

After the arrest of the 21-year-old Seattle man, a search revealed $292 in cash, a loaded ammo case, a glass pipe, a digital scale, a baggy of marijuana and a baggy of cocaine.

He insisted the marijuana and cocaine were for his personal use.

The loaded 22-caliber revolver was reported stolen in Kirkland.

He was booked into the SCORE regional jail for investigation of possession of a stolen firearm, of felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance.
