Renton School Board approves plans for new elementary school

The school is expected to be opened by fall 2023.

On May 12, the Renton School Board approved plans for the district’s newest elementary school.

The new school, approved by an overwhelming 70% of voters in the November 2019 School Construction Bond measure, is being built on district-owned property along Duvall Avenue NE, between NE 10th and NE 12th streets.

According to a Renton School District Facebook post, the new school will be the district’s 16th elementary school and is intended to ease crowding at neighboring district elementary schools.

Led by Hutteball + Oremus Architecture Inc., design and permitting will continue over the coming months. Cornerstone General Contractors Inc. will work to break ground in spring of 2022.

According to the post, the district will begin work on naming the school and creating school boundaries sometime this fall. The school is scheduled to open in the fall of 2023.
