Renton Regional Fire Authority respond to large house fire Wednesday

The damage to the house was substantial and firefighters weren’t able to enter the house to investigate.

Renton Regional Fire Authority responded to reports of a house fire around 4:55 p.m. Nov. 29.

The house was located on the 18800 block of 116th Avenue Southeast. Renton police closed 116th Avenue Southeast, between Southeast 192nd Street and Southeast 188th Street.

According to a RRFA press release, the house owner and his uncle saw blue flames coming from the fireplace and attempted to put it out with a garden house. However, the fire appeared to be coming from behind the fireplace. The man and his uncle left the residence.

Multiple fire departments assisted with the house fire, including Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. The damage to the house was substantial and firefighters weren’t able to enter the house to investigate and determine the cause of the fire.

King County Assessor reports the value of the house to be around $121,000.

The house was recently purchased and the home owner was planning on remodeling the house. There were no contents inside the house at the time of the fire, according to the release.

No one was hurt during the incident.
