Renton police seek suspect in series of strong-arm robberies

Renton police are searching for a suspect they say has been involved in a series of strong-armed robberies in the past few months.

A strong-armed robbery involves a robbery committed with the threat of force or intimidation without the use of a weapon.

According to the Renton Police Department, the suspect has targeted the same convenience store business approximately five separate times, in addition to six or more incidents at other locations in Renton.

“The suspect normally enters the business and immediately demands the clerk give him money from the register, even going as far as aggressively walking behind the counter and pushing the employee towards the register,” according to the department.

Police have not found any indications that the suspect has a weapon during the robbery. According to police, the businesses the suspect has targeted have not had other customers inside during the robberies, indicating he may be observing customer traffic from nearby.

The news release described the man as a 40- to 50-year-old Black man wearing a blue or black face mask, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 8 inches in height, approximately 250 pounds, with “possible” scruffy facial hair. He possibly drives a 2011 to 2014 Dodge Charger with potential damage to the left rear passenger door.

Renton police have requested the assistance of the public for information regarding the suspect.
