The Renton Police Department announced that they are investigating an overnight homicide after a late-night call.
On Jan. 21, the RPD reported that just after 2 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call from the 400 block of Williams Avenue South where a 34-year-old man reported the death of his 62-year-old mother, which was confirmed when police arrived at the location. Officers developed a probable cause and detained the son, who is currently in custody.
According to RPD spokesperson Meeghan Black, there were obvious signs of a struggle at the scene along with other evidence that gave officers probable cause to arrest the man. Black said more will be known when the Medical Examiner’s Office determines the cause of death and extent of injuries.
The suspect was booked into the King County Correctional Facility at 2:23 a.m.
This is an ongoing investigation and RPD is asking anyone who may have information regarding the case to call 911 or email investigations at crimetips@rentonwa.gov and to reference case #25-667.
