Renton Police investigate suspected homicide

The victim is a 23-year-old male.

Police suspect a homicide in a Renton apartment following the discovery of a dead body.

At 2:25 p.m. March 5 at an apartment in the 1100 block of Edmonds Ave. NE., a family member called 911 after discovering that a 23-year-old male victim had died, according to Renton Police Department spokesperson Meeghan Black.

Black said detectives are calling this death a suspected homicide. There are no suspects, so no one is under arrest, but they don’t believe there is a risk to the community, Black said.

The medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death, and Black said that following the death, investigators obtained a search warrant for the apartment and collected evidence. The evidence included fingerprints and DNA.

According to Black, investigators are canvassing the area for video surveillance, and the investigation is ongoing.
