Renton police identify homicide victim who was found downtown

According to the department, detectives believed Yimy to have been “fairly new” to the area and homeless.

Renton police have confirmed the identity of a 26-year-old man killed in a shooting in Renton in July.

According to the department, Renton police responded to reports of a shooting in downtown Renton on July 14 at approximately 10 p.m.

Renton police discovered Yimy O Ponce-Chirinos, 26, deceased in downtown Renton in the area of South 4th Street and Morris Avenue South. Witnesses and first responders attempted lifesaving measures to no success.

According to the department, detectives believed Yimy to have been “fairly new” to the area and homeless.

According to the department, detectives have exhausted all leads in the investigation and have not been able to locate any family members of Yimy’s.

They have requested assistance for information from the public in regards to the incident.
