Renton man killed in small plane crash in Cowlitz County

The Cowlitz County Coroner’s office has confirmed that the man who died in Thursday’s small plane crash at the Woodland State Airport was Marc S. Messina of Renton.

The Cowlitz County Coroner’s office has confirmed that the man who died in Thursday’s small plane crash at the Woodland State Airport was Marc S. Messina of Renton.

According to Cowlitz County Chief Deputy Coroner Brett Dundas, Messina was a rear-seat passenger in a single-engine, small plane accident at about 2:46 p.m. Thursday. Two other people were injured in the crash. Messina was the only fatality.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

According to the FAA, The airplane, a Mooney M20K, Crashed under Unknown Circumstances. Both the FAA and the NTSB will investigate.

According to friends of the family, Messina is survived by three daughters, two of whom are students at Liberty High School, where the third graduated last year.
