Renton man, 34, dies in motorcycle crash in Auburn

A 34-year-old Renton man died in a two-vehicle traffic collision on Sept. 20 on State Route 164.

The collision occurred at approximately 6:52 p.m. on Auburn Way South, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The 34-year-old man, who was driving a motorcycle, traveled eastbound in the westbound lane of State Route 164 and attempted to overtake and pass traffic.

When a second vehicle started to turn left in front of him, the 34-year-old man attempted to pass and his motorcycle struck the vehicle. The impact ejected and threw him approximately 100 feet east of the collision where he arrived at a stop on the westbound shoulder.

First responders declared the 34-year-old man deceased at the scene.

The collision resulted in roadway blockages for approximately 3 hours and 23 minutes.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision resulted from speeding and passing in a no passing zone.

The driver of the second vehicle, a 24-year-old Covington man, suffered no injuries in the collision, according to the State Patrol.
