Renton business unveils green machine

Service Linen Supply will unveil an energy-saving machine they have adopted in support of green business practices in the city.

A Renton business will be the first in the Northwest to adopt green practices that allow then to dramatically reduce the city’s water and energy consumption.

Service Linen Supply will unveil their new CBW industrial laundry washer with a ribbon-cutting and machine demonstration at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28.

The company, which supplies linen to customers in Washington and Oregon, is participating in the Eastside Green Business Challenge, which launched this November.

The challenge is a friendly competition between seven Eastside cities and others around the nation to see who can save the most money and natural resources in one year.

Renton’s Mayor Denis Law will join Service Linen owners and employees, Chamber of Commerce members and the Eastside Green Business Challenge representatives in the ceremony.

“In this economy, businesses are seeing huge profits by implementing often simple measures to conserve natural resources,” said Paul Andersson, Eastside Green Business spokesperson in a statement. “Renton businesses are showing up big for this competition, and Service Linen Supply is setting a strong example, proving that one company can help an entire community reduce its water and energy consumption and build a cleaner economy. Each business’ investment in innovation, simple behavior changes, or cleaner technology serves as a strong rallying call to other organizations to start seeing more Green at work.”

Service Linen customer Duke’s Chowder House will serve complimentary chowder to attendees following the machine demonstration.

The ceremony takes place at 903 South Fourth Street in Renton. For more information visit, www.sustainableeastside.org.
