RENTON BLOTTER: Husband, wife beaten in front of family

The following information was compiled from City of Renton Police reports:

Husband, wife beaten in front of family

A man and his wife were beaten by about six men, after the husband flipped off a man for almost rear-ending their van at about 10:30 a.m. July 8.

When they pulled up to a convenience store on the 2900 block of Northeast Third Street, the driver and another four men from a black Durango followed.

They beat the man to the ground with wooden rods, putting a gash in his forehead. They also assaulted the woman, pulling out a chunk of her hair.

Their young children were in the car, and the police had problems with the victims, because of how irate they were.

Attempted rape outside store

A woman told police a man tried to rape her outside a department store on the 300 block of Renton Circle Way, after she borrowed his cell phone.

She told police after she returned the phone, he punched her twice in the head, when she fell to the ground. He tried pulling off her pants.

She struggled and got away July 18.

Man beaten with a broken beer bottle

A man was beaten with a broken beer bottle at a barbecue, causing him to bleed down his face and arms after getting into a scuffle over who stole $20 July 10.

The victim was drinking with several others and was too intoxicated to give a written statement. There were no witnesses on the 3900 block of Northeast Fifth Place.

The suspects left the scene, and the man was taken to the Valley Medical Center for treatment.
