Renton Arts Commission announces 2016 grant recipients

Eleven Renton-area individuals and organizations have received grants totaling $7,450 from the Renton Municipal Arts Commission (RMAC).

The Renton Municipal Arts Commission this week announced a total of $7,450 in grants for 2016 going to 11 different Renton-area individuals and organizations.

The grants will help the recipients fulfill their goals for developing and supporting arts and culture in the City of Renton.

The individuals and organizations receiving 2016 RMAC grants are: Allied Arts of Renton, The Art of Writing, Deft Films, Long Tran Films, The Quinton Morris Project, Rainier Chorale, Renton Annual Art Show, Renton Civic Theater, Renton Farmers Market, Renton PTSA, and the Renton Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The RMAC grant review committee assessed grant applications based on meeting the RMAC’s goal of raising awareness for the arts in Renton and the objectives of the City of Renton Arts and Culture Master Plan.

Funding for the grants is made possible by 4Culture, a cultural services agency from King County. 4culture is committed to making the region stronger by supporting citizens and groups who preserve our shared heritage and create arts and cultural opportunities for residents and visitors.

The Renton Municipal Arts Commission was formed over 50 years ago for the purpose of acting in an advisory capacity to city government in connection with the artistic and cultural development of the city and as stewards of the City of Renton art collection. The Commission strives to support and connect people with arts and culture endeavors in the Renton community.
