The City of Renton is seeking candidates for one position on the Advisory Commission on Diversity.

The City of Renton is seeking candidates for one position on the Advisory Commission on Diversity.

The volunteer member is appointed to the two-year term by Mayor Denis Law and confirmed by the City Council. Candidates must live inside Renton.

The commission is made up of nine members, responsible for promoting and celebrating diversity in the Renton community.

The commission’s role includes:

• Promoting understanding by including the diverse community in the process of city government.

• Promoting an atmosphere for diverse participation in civic and other activities, by working with local organizations to identify and remove obstacles that may prevent participation.

• Advising and providing information to the mayor, council, staff, commissions and boards to foster a commitment to diversity.

To be considered for appointment to the board, applications must be submitted by 5 p.m. on April 21. Interviews will be held the first week of May.
