Police Blotter: Man pulled from car, robbed of $1,100

The following was compiled from City of Renton police reports:

Strong army robbery

A man was pulled from his car on Edmonds Avenue Northeast near Northeast Fourth Street, where he was punched and robbed in the street around 10:30 p.m. Sept. 21.

The man, who only spoke Korean, had just come from AM/PM mini mart on 2900 N.E. Third St. where he filled his gas tank.

When he realized he had to pay in cash, he pulled out an envelope with $1,100 cash, a recently cashed paycheck.

The man thinks he was followed from the gas station to a darker area, where the two men blocked his vehicle with a sedan and robbed him.

The two men threw his keys and wallet in a nearby bush, after plucking the envelope of cash from his pocket.

Girl jumped

A girl was jumped by three teenager girls when walking home on the 1000 block of Harrington Place Northeast Oct. 16.

One of the teenagers, who had a heavy build, approached the girl demanding her phone. When the girl refused, the teenager grabbed the girl’s hair and punched her in the face.

The teenagers rummaged through the girls bag, taking $3 and the cell phone.

Domestic abuse

A Kenyan immigrant was hit in the face multiple times by her boyfriend, who also spoke Swahili, on the 1000 block of Woodland Court Northeast Oct. 12.

The woman was living and working in an adult family home, when the boyfriend accused her of seeing other men and beat her.

The woman called 911, saying “Somebody is here who beat me.”

Police struggled with the language barrier, but an interpreter was provided.

The man was arrested without incident.

Espresso stand burglary

The Mocha Madness Espresso stand on 1190 Sunset Blvd. N.E. was broken into over the night of Oct. 11.

A window was shattered, causing about $300 in damage, but the suspect didn’t appear to enter the stand.

A jar with the day’s wages, about $400 in cash and receipts with full credit car numbers had been stolen.

Domestic abuse

A scared 13-year-old son called the police when his mother started attacking her boyfriend on the 3600 block of Northeast Ninth Street, Oct. 14.

In the past, the boyfriend had been arrested for fighting back and hurting the mother, but in this incident he didn’t.

The son was afraid that the boyfriend would hurt the mother after she punched the boyfriend in the nose, so he grabbed a knife.

The mother responded by grabbing the boyfriend by behind.

The boyfriend leaned forward to push the mother over his head, and left the house. The son then called police.

The police noted multiple times in the report that the mother was verbally abusive to the son in front of them and visibly upset that he had called the police.

An officer heard her say to the son, “I’m the one that punched him! He didn’t hit me! Shut up and don’t say anything else!”

Police found the boyfriend, who relayed the same story. The report didn’t note any arrests.
