POLICE BLOTTER: Girl bitten by big dog

The following information was compiled from City of Renton police reports.

A 7-year-old Renton girl was bitten by a 170-pound Great Dane and taken to Swedish Medical Center for treatment on Nov. 3.

Around 1 p.m., the girl was with her grandmother at the Renton Goodwill store when she was bitten. The dog belongs to the woman’s daughter and they were feeding it treats when a crowd formed to admire its size. The dog then snapped at the 7-year-old’s left chest and right forearm, which caused puncture wounds. The Great Dane was current on its vaccines and previously had not been aggressive toward people, its owner said. The dog was put on a 10-day animal quarantine and cited for not having a license.

Assault

A 44-year-old Seattle woman was charged with fourth-degree assault after getting into a shuffle with her husband in the Renton WalMart parking lot.

On Nov. 5 police were en route to a fight at 743 Rainier Ave. S. between what they were told was two males. Upon arrival they discovered the woman with blood on her shirt and pants. She was upset, crying and told police she had a warrant out of Renton. She told police she didn’t have any injuries, but her 43-year-old husband of 15 years did.

According to her, they were arguing and she grabbed him and threw him off the top step on the back of the camper. He declined to give a witness statement.

Home invasion

A mysterious home invasion left no clues for police.

On Oct. 28 police were called to a residence in the 100 block of Southwest 4th Place in Renton. It seemed a residential burglary was committed. The 40-year-old male resident said he was last at home at 7:30 a.m. He noticed the front door to the residence was open at around 5:15 p.m. He noticed the box covering the alarm had been removed and several wires were removed. The alarm itself was not damaged.

A partially opened window was located on the second floor Nothing appeared to be missing or damaged in the residence at the time.

Man jumped

A 19-year-old Milton man was jumped by three men in Renton on Nov. 7.

Just after midnight, he was in the 200 block of Mill Avenue South, walking home from his girlfriend’s house when he encountered three men, standing on the side of the street.

He had to walk between them, which made them upset. He was then pushed to the ground and kicked in the ribs 20 to 25 times.

The 19-year-old told police he did not know his assailants. He sustained a sprained right ankle and sore ribs.

Assault

A 24-year-old Renton man assaulted his mother after she refused to buy him beer on Nov. 11.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., police were called to a residence in the 600 block of Harrington Avenue Northeast for a domestic assault involving the 24-year-old man and his 43-year-old mother. They were arguing outside because she told him she didn’t have the money for beer. He then picked up his BMX bicycle and swung it at her, striking her in the left leg.

The mother had a sore leg but declined aid.

Police caught up to the son when he returned to the residence at 5:15 p.m. He was arrested, charged with fourth-degree assault and booked into jail.

Assault

A 16-year-old was charged with fourth-degree assault after beating his mother in Renton on Nov. 6.

Police responded to a call at 11:12 p.m. about a beating in an apartment on Union Avenue Northeast. The 16-year-old was not cooperative. He paced in circles in a back bedroom, wearing blue bandanas around his right hand, his neck and another in his back pocket. He later stated he was part of the Southside 23rd Street Crips.

The 52-year-old mother stated her son came into the bedroom, saying, “I want you to listen to me.” He kicked her in the right leg. He hit her with a pillow. He told police said he was sick of his mother, but answered no further questions. He was arrested and transported to the King County Youth Detention Center.
