Photos: Renton celebrates Ukrainian Independence Day

From noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, folks arrived to Liberty Park in Renton from all over Washington for the annual celebration of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

Presented by the Ukrainian Association of Washington State, the event brought Ukrainian culture, music, dance, language, art, clothing, food and more to South King County. Vendor booths also offered resources for Washington’s Ukrainian refugees and avenues for people to send relief aid to Ukraine and assist wounded Ukrainians who need prosthetics.

Tamara Volynets of Vinnytsia was among the many Ukrainians who took part in the celebration at Liberty Park. She came to the U.S. last year and she was there with her young grandson, Vova, who is originally from Kyiv. “I’m thankful to the U.S. for taking us in,” said Volynets.
