The final meeting of the Energize Eastside Citizens Advisory Group is scheduled for Wednesday in Bellevue and the Coalition of Eastside Neighborhoods for Sensible Energy is encouraging Eastside residents to attend.
The meeting is scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Red Lion Hotel Bellevue, 11211 Main St., Bellevue.
CAG members will be voting on their final recommendation of a route for the proposed 230 kV transmission lines through Renton, Newcastle, Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland. Through Renton, the CAG has already selected the “M Route,” along Monroe Avenue, as the path through the city.
Though the final selection of routes is near, CENSE continues to fight the project and believes the outcome of this process does not represent the wishes of the community and better alternatives were prematurely eliminated by PSE and never considered by the CAG.
“I do not believe that the outcome of this process represents the wishes of the community. Better alternatives were prematurely eliminated by PSE and never even considered by the CAG,” CAG member Steve O’Donnell said in a press release.
To demonstrate the strength of this opposition, CENSE is hoping a large number of concerned residents attend Wednesday’s meeting. CENSE is asking CAG members to sign a “Minority Report” that declines to endorse the outcome of the CAG process.
CENSE has repeatedly questioned the need for the Energize Project, which will upgrade the energy purveyor’s transmission lines, as well as PSE’s decision to keep the lines above ground as opposed to burying them, an option PSE says is too expensive.
