After opening their doors just a year-and-a-half ago, the Midwives at Valley Medical Center recently celebrated a major milestone: the delivery of their 500th baby.

The Midwives at Valley Medical offer an alternative approach to childbirth. Mothers who choose the midwife route at Valley Medical deliver in the hospital’s posh Birth Center, which includes access to Valley Medical physicians and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, when necessary.

Valley Medical’s midwives are a team of six midwives, one registered nurse and one maternity support provider. Patients who choose to deliver their babies with the midwives meet each team member during their pregnancy.

Valley Medical’s midwives are certified nurse-midwives especially trained to provide comprehensive, safe and individualized obstetrical and gynecologic care in a positive, supportive environment. The nurse midwives even offer counseling to their patients for issues beyond pregnancy, including smoking cessation and domestic violence.
