Two Renton students and two Kent students were recently selected as winners of the 2008 $mart Scholarship award, sponsored by Renton-based JayMarc Development.

The Renton students are Renton High School senior Alex Haag and Lindbergh High School senior Alaska McGann. All recipients will receive a $2,500 tuition scholarship to use at the college or university of their choosing.

Scholarship applicants read “Rich Dad, Poor Dad,” a book by personal finance author Robert Kiyosaki and wrote a 1,000-word essay on how the book could influence their financial future.

The $mart Scholarship award was started in 2003. The scholarship is open to seniors at Renton, Hazen, Lindbergh, Kentridge and Kent-Meridian high schools.

Scholarship applications are available each spring on The Seattle Foundation’s Web site, www.SeattleFoundation.org.

JayMarc Development was founded by Renton residents Jay Mezistrano and Marc Rousso. The company works with individual property owners to create single-family and multi-family housing projects in western Washington.
