Man dies after Christmas Eve shooting in Renton

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a 29-year-old man that died in Renton on Sunday, Dec. 24 as a result of a shooting.

Jerid Keith Sprague, 29, died in a parking lot in the 1100 block of Oakesdale Avenue Southwest on Dec. 24, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Renton detectives initiated a homicide into the incident after officers responded at 3:16 a.m. on Dec. 24 to a call regarding a dispute in a parking lot with shots fired in the 1100 block of Oakesdale Avenue Southwest.

According to the department, officers located a 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound upon arriving. First responders attempted lifesaving measures on the man, who died as a result of his injuries at the scene.

According to the department, witnesses said they heard a single gunshot after seeing multiple individuals arguing in a vehicle.Two individuals in the vehicle sped away from the scene.

Officers located the vehicle and detained the two occupants for questioning, in addition to locating a handgun in the vehicle, according to the department. Detectives are determining whether the handgun located was the weapon used in the homicide and interviewing multiple witnesses.

Investigation into the incident continues.
