Kiwanis of Renton hands out scholarships to graduating seniors

Kiwanis Club of Renton has presented four scholarships totaling $3,500 to graduating seniors throughout the Renton School District.

The Kiwanis Club offers the scholarships each year to high school seniors committed to continuing their education. The funds are donated by the Cobb Larsen family in memory of their father’s and the Clarke Scholarship. Money is raised in memory of a 40-year, perfect-attendance club member and offered to students based on their academic achievement, extra-curricular activities, community service and commitment to continuing their education. Scholarship recipients are:

• Jerry Du, Renton High School, receiving the $500 Erling Larsen Key Club Scholarship. He will attend the University of Washington

• Cayla Hall, Hazen High School, receiving the $1,000 Douglas J. Cobb Sr., Memorial Scholarship. She will attend Washington Sate University

• Marlie Maxwell, Sartori Education Center, receiving the $1,000 Douglas J. Cobb Sr., Memorial Scholarship. She will attend Renton Technical College

• Sirena Chuong, Renton High School, receiving the $1,000 Richard Clarke Sr., Memorial Scholarship to attend The Fashion Institute of Design & Marketing in Los Angeles.
