A collision Wednesday morning blocked the two left lanes on northbound Interstate 405 at Northeast 30th Street in Renton, according to the Washington state Department of Transportation.
The collision occurred at about 8:30 a.m. The accident was cleared from the freeway at about 9 a.m.
Traffic was already heavy as commuters tried to avoid northound I-405, blocked by an overturned semi in downtown Seattle.
The accident is also slowing northbound State Route 167 between Kent and Renton and traffic in downtown Renton.
The transportation department’s Incident Response Team and fire crews are on the scene.
