Huff retained in first all-mail election

It’s now official: Sherril Huff has kept her job as director for the King County Elections Division.

Results of the Feb. 3 election were certified Wednesday afternoon. Huff kept, and improved upon her early lead, winning about 46 percent of the vote.

Former King County Council member David Irons finished second, with about 19 percent of the vote and

state Sen. Pam Roach earned nearly 16 percent of the vote.

Also running were Chris Clifford, Bill Anderson and Julie Kempf.

About 22 percent of registered voters voted in this election.

The election was the first all-mail election in county history. It was also the first time the county’s top elections official had to be elected. Voters approved an amendment in November calling for that change. Previously, the county executive appointed the division leader.
