HealthPoint clinic opens in new Sunset Neighborhood Center

The center is in the old Sunset Library facilities

HealthPoint, a community health center serving more than 100,000 patients in King County, has now opened a new healthcare clinic to the Sunset neighborhood.

This clinic is a partnership between HealthPoint, the Renton Housing Authority, St. Vincent de Paul, Valley Cities, and Neighborhood House, and is located in the new Sunset Neighborhood Center, previously the Renton Highlands Library.

The partners opened this new clinic in response to needs identified by the Sunset community for greater access to health care. The Sunset neighborhood is the focus of a transformative effort by the City of Renton to improve health, housing, and economic and educational opportunity for residents.

“We are very pleased to have HealthPoint in Renton and this clinic is an important step towards our vision for the Sunset Neighborhood,” Renton Mayor Armondo Pavone stated in a release. “Sunset is a growing, vibrant area. Now, thanks to a strong partnership with HealthPoint and Renton Housing Authority, residents have another option for first-class, affordable health care.”

HealthPoint at the Sunset Neighborhood Center patients can access medical and behavioral health care, nutrition education, family planning services, treatment and management of chronic diseases such as diabetes, and more. HealthPoint assists patients with signing up for insurance, and offers a sliding-scale fee to make care affordable regardless of a person’s income. Interpreters are available and many of HealthPoint’s staff speak more than one language.

In addition to in-person appointments, HealthPoint at Sunset Neighborhood Center offers telehealth appointments. Telehealth is also an option for patients who are at high risk of COVID-19, and to receive care for minor illnesses and check-ups.

“Our mission at HealthPoint is to strengthen communities and improve people’s health. We believe everyone in our community deserves an equal opportunity for health no matter their circumstances.” Lisa Yohalem, President & CEO of HealthPoint stated in a press release. “HealthPoint is honored to partner with the Renton Housing Authority and the City of Renton to provide accessible, affordable, compassionate health care to the Sunset community.”

HealthPoint has been a frequent partner with Renton organizations, including operating one of the recently operated free COVID-10 testing sites within the city, as previously reported by Renton Reporter.
