Burglary and shooting

Renton police were dispatched on Jan. 21 at approximately 12:45 p.m. to the 1100 block of Southwest 7th Street for a report of a suspicious person. According to the department, a security officer stated a subject in a vehicle shot at him as he attempted to see the license plate of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle left prior to the arrival of officers. No injuries resulted from the incident. According to the department, evidence indicated suspects entered the building with the incident serving as a potential burglary in progress. The department’s investigations team will take over further review of the case.

Shooting

Renton police were dispatched on Jan. 18 at approximately 9:37 p.m. to the 200 block of Hardie Avenue Northwest for a report of a shooting with injuries. According to the department, officers arrived and found a man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound in the lower back and exit wound through the hip. Officers treated the wound, with medics arriving after and transporting the victim, who was alert, to a hospital for treatment. Officers interviewed two additional subjects that were present with the victim at the time of the shooting. According to the department, the witnesses stated they were walking down the street when they observed a black four-door sedan driving past them. The vehicle turned around and the occupants of the sedan opened fire at the group. According to the department, the victims stated they did not know and had little information to identify the suspects. The department’s investigations team has been assigned to the case.

Domestic violence

Renton police were dispatched on Jan. 21 at approximately 10:48 p.m. to a report of a domestic violence incident in the 500 block of Morris Avenue South. According to the department, the victim, a woman, went to pick up her child at a residence when her ex-boyfriend came out of the residence and they started a conversation. She noticed he had a firearm in his hand, which he used to strike her in the forehead. The victim fled the area for safety, according to the department. The responding officer determined probable cause to charge the man with assault in the second degree and exposing minor children to domestic violence as he assaulted the victim while her young child was present, according to the department. The department will file charges with the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Assault

Renton police responded on Jan. 16 at approximately 6:31 a.m. to a reported physical assault in the 18000 block of 121st Place Southeast. According to the department, a neighbor reported that a man had been assaulted by his adult stepson, resulting in a dislocated shoulder. According to the department, the stepson reportedly fled the scene. Police developed probable cause to charge the suspect with assault in the third degree, according to the department. The case was forwarded to detectives for further review.
