Business burgled for $6 | Renton police blotter

$6 burglary: At 8:45 p.m. Dec. 18 in the 300 block of SW 43rd Street, officers were dispatched to a burglary. Officers determined there was a breach of the building, and after clearing it, no one was located. Video surveillance was reviewed, and officers believe that two suspects were seen entering the building by prying open a door with a crowbar. Footage then showed the suspects tearing off a quarter machine from the wall and then leaving. The owner determined there was $6 in the machine. The burglars were described as having a larger build, wearing dark-colored masks, and wearing dark-colored jackets. Officers determined there was probable cause for burglary in the second degree. The case was forwarded to investigations for further review.

Burglary: Just before 4:30 a.m. Dec. 18 in the 100 block of SW 41st Street, officers arrived and observed that the glass for the front door of a business had been pulled out, and products from the store were on the sidewalk out front. Officers cleared the building, but did not find anyone inside. The case would be forwarded to the investigation for further review.

Mother arrested: At about 8:18 a.m. Dec. 18 at Hazen High School, the Student Resource Officer was notified that a student had reported to a counselor that she had been assaulted by her mother that morning. The officer took the student’s statement and called Renton Regional Fire for a medical assessment. Probable cause was determined for domestic violence assault in the second degree. The mother later arrived at the school, was arrested without incident and booked into jail. Child Protective Services was also notified and came to the location to work with the victim to investigate the incident further.

Driving under the influence: On Dec. 20, just before 1 a.m., at the intersection of Rainier Ave. S. and S. 3rd St., an officer initiated a traffic stop for a vehicle that could not stay in its lane. Through investigation, it was determined the suspect was intoxicated and was booked into jail for DUI.
