Officers arrived on-scene and contacted the victim, who was sitting at the bus stop. The victim said that about 30 minutes prior, he was assaulted by three suspects. The victim had obvious injuries to the back of his head. The victim stated that an altercation started after he recognized the suspects were smoking fentanyl and then they got on a bus and left. Break-in: On Jan. 16, just before 1 a.m., in the 200 block of S 4th Pl, officers were dispatched to a commercial alarm. The officer observed damage to a metal exterior security door, including pry marks. The owner arrived and confirmed the damage was new. Officers and the owner searched the inside of the building and did not see anything missing or that anyone had gained access to the business. A case was taken to note the damage to the business.

Man fights with officers: On Jan. 17, just before 10 p.m. in the 700 Block of Logan Avenue North, an officer was conducting a business check when he was approached by the manager who indicated there was a customer who was being belligerent and hostile towards staff and wanted assistance in getting the subject to leave. The subject was contacted by the officer and told to leave per mangement’s request, or he would be arrested for criminal trespassing. The subject refused, was argumentative and fought with officers. The subject, a 36-year-old man, was booked without incident and charged with criminal trespass first-degree, assault fourth-degree and resisting arrest.

Shooting: On Jan. 18, at 2:27 p.m. in the 1000 block of Harrington Avenue Southeast, officers were dispatched to a shooting. The first reporting party called, saying that fifteen minutes earlier, she had witnessed an occupant of a dark sedan shooting a gun. A short time later, the owner of a truck called to report that his vehicle had been shot at. Officers met with both parties, noting that a bullet casing was lodged in the passenger side of the truck. This case will be turned over to the investigations unit as probable cause exists for drive-by shooting and assault in the first degree.

Domestic violence: On Jan. 18, at about 10:52 p.m. in the 1100 block of Union Avenue Northeast, officers were dispatched to an apartment complex for suspicious circumstances. Several residents were calling 911 as they heard someone screaming for help. Officers contacted the victim, who said her husband physically assaulted her. After interviewing the victim, it was determined there was probable cause for second-degree assault/domestic violence, interfering with the reporting of domestic violence and exposing minor children to domestic violence as there were children present. Officers tried to locate the suspect, who had left the scene, but were unable to locate him. The case has been turned over to the investigations team for follow-up.
