Box cutter injuries

Renton police were dispatched on March 19 at approximately 6:33 p.m. to a stabbing at a business located in the 300 block of Rainier Avenue South. According to the department, a dispute occurred between the owner of the business and a previous employee. The past employee arrived at the business and started a fight with the owner, producing a box cutting knife during the fight. The owner received several lacerations in the fight. According to the department, police established probable cause for assault in the second degree against the past employee. The owner did not want to press charges.

Domestic violence

Renton police were dispatched on March 25 at approximately 3:11 a.m. to a physical domestic report in the 1300 block of Eagle Ridge Drive South. According to the department, a woman reported her boyfriend physically assaulted her. She left the scene, and an officer met the woman at a different location. The officer saw the woman suffered several injuries, and medics arrived at the scene for evaluation and treatment of the woman. According to the department, the officer developed probable cause to charge the suspect with domestic violence felony harassment. The case has been forwarded to the department’s investigations team to pursue charges.

Assault and court order violation

Renton police were dispatched on March 19 at approximately 2:45 p.m. to a report of an assault and court order violation that originally occurred in the 500 block of Burnett Avenue South. According to the department, officers arrived and talked with both parties involved, two women, and developed probable cause to arrest one for assault in the second degree. A no-contact order existed between the two parties, with the suspect of the assault listed as the protected person in the order. Police issued a citation to the victim of the assault for violation of the no-contact order.

Gang shooting

At 3:35 a.m. March 23, an officer conducting a routine patrol in the vicinity of Park Avenue North and North 6th Street heard the sound of approximately 20 gunshots. The officer headed north and started to search the area as multiple callers started to contact dispatch for illegal discharge in the vicinity of the 1200 block of North 10th Place. Dispatch also received a call for a drive-by shooting in the 1100 block of Monterey Avenue Northeast.

Multiple units responded to the 1100 block of Monterey Avenue. En route, dispatch advised officers of a documented gang member known to be at the residence. Officers arrived and observed several subjects exiting the residence. Police received no report of injuries resulting from the incident.

Officers located approximately 20 to 30 shell casings on the street in front of the residence and saw damage to the garage door, second story of the home, side of the home, and storage shed. The neighboring home also sustained damage to the siding and fence. According to the department, police interviewed all subjects and have no suspect information available as of March 27. Police believe the incident to be gang-related. The case was forwarded to the department’s investigations team for further review.
