Assault and carjackings | Renton police blotter

The reporting party said several unknown subjects robbed her at gunpoint and stole her vehicle.

Assault

Renton officers were dispatched on April 29 at approximately 7:45 a.m. to a domestic assault with a weapon at an apartment complex in the 300 Block of Park Avenue North.

The reporting party advised police of a dispute involving a man and woman, with the man threatening the woman with a knife, according to the department.

The victim suffered minor injuries and the suspect fled on foot prior to police arrival, last seen heading northbound on Park Avenue North.

Officers in the area observed a subject matching the description of the suspect and police set up a containment area and called a King County K9 deputy to the location to assist with the search.

Police located the suspect and arrested him without further incident.

The suspect will be charged with assault in the first degree, according to the department.

Carjacking

The Renton Police Department received a report on April 30 at 12:52 a.m. of a potential carjacking in the 4300 block of Northeast Sunset Boulevard.

The reporting party said several unknown subjects robbed her at gunpoint and stole her vehicle.

After contacting her, the victim stated to police she arrived at her residence when she saw a white SUV exiting the parking lot area at a high rate of speed. The victim left her vehicle and noticed the white SUV reversing.

According to the department, two individuals stepped out of the vehicle, one approaching and demanding her purse. The subject drew a black firearm from his waistband and pointed it towards her, demanding she hand over her belongings. The victim provided the suspects with her keys and purse and stepped away.

Both vehicles left the area at a high rate of speed.

The victim advised police she would not be able to identify the suspect if seen again, according to the department.

Auburn police later recovered her vehicle.

Ride-share carjacking

Renton officers were dispatched to report a carjacking on May 4 at approximately 8:42 a.m. near the 700 block of South 21st Street in Renton.

The victim, a ride-share driver, picked up a fare from Valley Medical Center and was driving the suspect to an unknown location, according to the department. During the drive, the suspect accosted the victim from behind. In fear for her safety, she jumped out of the moving vehicle.

The suspect jumped into the driver’s seat and drove away at a high rate of speed, according to the department. Following an area check, the officer located the suspect and stolen vehicle at a nearby apartment complex in the 2200 Block of Benson Road South.

The suspect told officers that he assaulted the victim to steal her vehicle, and the victim positively identified the suspect. Police arrested the suspect for robbery in the second degree.
