Nation needs stricter gun laws, not more guns | Letter to the Editor

Recently, President Donald Trump wanted to put a law into effect that would give teachers the right to have guns in the school.

I don’t believe this is a good idea because it will give students an easier way of getting the guns or even a teacher could use the gun to hurt people.

My opinion is that we should have much stricter gun laws so that it is harder for people who want to do wrong to obtain these weapons.

We can do this by doing more extensive background checks, banning assault weapons which are the weapon of choice for mass shootings and private transactions of guns should go through a licensed firearms dealer.

If the United States put these laws into effect, it would be much harder for people to obtain these guns and there would be less violence.

Thanks,
