Renton Downtown Partnership set to host business pitch competition on April 18

Those with best pitch ideas will receive $5000 to kick-start their local business.

The Renton Downtown Partnership is set to host the Main Street Entrepreneur Pitch Competition, presented by Venture89, on April 18, at 5:30 P.M. at the Renton Civic Theatre.

Community advocate and former Seattle Seahawk, Doug Baldwin, will introduce a panel of judges who will hear 3-minute pitches from prospective businesses and choose three winners in three categories: “Startup/Idea,” “Early,” and “Established.”

The winners will receive a cash prize of $5,000 per category, as well as exposure and networking opportunities.

All Pitch Competitors have been through months of workshops and dedicated time to learning about managing their businesses.

The Renton Downtown Partnership says it is committed to supporting and nurturing small businesses in the area, and this competition is just one example of that.

“Our Pitch Competitors have worked tirelessly to get to this point,” said Christian Switzer, Executive Director of the Renton Downtown Partnership. “We believe in their potential and are excited to see their business ideas come to fruition. Our goal is to provide support and resources for entrepreneurs to thrive in downtown Renton.”

In addition, winners who sign a lease before October 15th, 2023, are eligible for an additional $5,000, which the Renton Downtown Partnership hopes will help lower barriers for businesses to open in downtown Renton.

The Renton Downtown Partnership has invited the community to attend the event at the Renton Civic Theatre on April 18 at 5:30 P.M.
