Kjerstin Richards of Renton has been named a National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association (NCBCA) Academic All-American.

Richards is a member of the Midland University Bowling team in Fremont, Neb. All in all, the Warriors had five men and nine women named to the list.

“It takes a truly special individual to maintain this type of success in the classroom,” said J.J. Mastny, Midland University bowling head coach. “To achieve this award at this level, a student-athlete must be deeply dedicated and character-driven.”

In order to be nominated to receive NCBCA Academic All-American status, athletes must hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 at spring eligibility check. Student-athletes must also be a United States Bowling Congress (USBC) collegiate participant.

In addition to Midland University’s achievements in the classroom, the Warrior women are ranked No. 5 in the latest national poll.

The Warrior bowling teams will compete at the USBC Sectional Qualifier in Las Vegas, Nev., on March 8.
