There is still time to register to vote in the Aug. 7 primary election but not much time.
The deadline to register is Monday, July 30, and those interested must do so in person at the King County Elections Headquarters in Renton.The offices are located at 919 S.W. Grady Way and open 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
There are registration forms in Cambodian, Chinese, Korean, Laotian, Russian, Spanish and Vietnamese to accommodate Renton’s diverse population.
Those interested in registering to vote must be a U.S. citizen, a legal resident of Washington state, at least 18 years old, not under the authority of the Department of Corrections or barred from voting by a court. It is not necessary to declare a political party affiliation in this state in order to register to vote.
Once registered, voters can either receive ballots in the mail or vote at election headquarters via an on-site machine. Mail-in ballots must be postmarked no later than 8 p.m., Aug. 7.
