Renton man killed riding motorcycle on SR169 bicycle path

A 44-year-old Renton man was killed early Thursday morning when he crashed the stolen motorcycle he was riding in a metal pole on a walking trail along state Route 169.

A 44-year-old Renton man was killed early Thursday morning when he crashed the stolen motorcycle he was riding in a metal pole on a walking trail along state Route 169.

According to a report form the Washington State Police, the man, who has not yet been identified, failed to stop for a trooper on SR169 and then entered the bicycle path that runs parallel to the road.

He was traveling southbound on the path and then made a U-turn to head north, but struck the metal pole and was killed.

The motorcycle was totaled in the accident.

It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash. The accident is under investigation.
